Benefits of Homemade Dog Food

Here at LolaBelle’s Treats we have been feeding our 4 dogs a homemade diet for quite some time and have seen tremendous results! And word is getting out that homemade is the way to go! We found the article “Healthy, Homemade Dog Food-5 Benefits That Promote Good Health” and it pretty much sums it up for us!

We chose to go homemade, and sell homemade dog food, for a variety of reasons. We wanted complete control over what ingredients went into our dogs food. We didn’t want them eating things like “by-products” (fyi-that’s all the leftovers after the human edible parts are removed. ie-feathers, bones, guts, blood, unborn babies, hooves, etc.) We didn’t want them consuming “meat meals”  that often contain dead and diseased animals rejected by meat processing plants. We didn’t want them eating a myriad of chemicals found in commercial dog food (read a label! What is that stuff?)

We also wanted the health benefits of a homemade diet. Let’s face it, we all know of someone who’s dog has diabetes, food allergies, joint problems, seizures, a heart condition, etc. Why do you think that is? If you were to consume nothing but fast food meals every day for the rest of your life, would YOU be in good health? We all know the answer.

Another benefit of a homemade diet is variety! YES! Dogs like, and need, variety! Once you have the basics down you can use different meats, different vegetable combinations and a variety of healthy starches to make food your dog will LOVE! Sometimes we share a meal with our dogs with them getting the “no salt, no sugar, no spices” version of what I am preparing for my family. It’s fun, it’s easy and we feel GREAT about what we are feeding our dogs.

Of course, not everyone has the time or the skills to prepare a homemade meal every day and that’s where LolaBelle’s Treats can help! Our homemade food contains hand cut chicken, a healthy blend of veggies and rice. We even add a multi vitamin, a calcium supplement an a probiotic for easy digestion.

So do a little research and give a homemade diet a try! Your dog will LOVE you for it!

We fed Gus a homemade diet for years, but sadly had to stop after he developed food allergies. 😦 We loved knowing exactly what he was eating.
